Brian Mast (FL-21)

After graduating high school, Brian followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the U.S. Army. During his service, Brian worked under the elite Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) as a bomb disposal expert – one of the most dangerous jobs in the War on Terror. Brian was tasked with protecting his fellow soldiers from one of the terrorists’ most deadly weapons, the improvised explosive device (IED). Brian detected and destroyed many IEDs; however, the last IED he ever came across detonated costing Brian both of his legs. Brian’s distinguished military career includes recognition with the The Bronze Star Medal, The Army Commendation Medal for Valor, The Purple Heart Medal, and The Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Following retirement from the Army, Brian continued his life’s work of defending America in a new position with the Department of Homeland Security.
