Before he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, Mario Díaz-Balart spent 14 years serving both in the Florida Senate and the Florida House of Representatives. At the time he was elected to the Florida Senate, Mario was just 31 years old, making him the youngest person ever elected to the Florida Senate. Mario distinguished himself during his tenure in the Florida Legislature as a trustworthy steward of Florida’s tax dollars, especially while serving as Chairman of the combined Appropriations / Ways and Means / Finance and Tax Committee of the Senate.
